Gramedia Pustaka Utama has published a poetry book by Theoresia Rumthe and Weslly Johannes. Their third collaborative book entitled Percakapan Paling Panjang Perihal Pulang Pergi (The Longest Conversation About A Round-Trip) is special because the creative process was using the e-mail during a pandemic.
"Throughout 2020, it feels dark. But, for Weslly & me, 2020 is perhaps the brightest year for our work process. We wrote three digital poetry books and completed the text of the book Percakapan Paling Panjang Perihal Pulang Pergi, "said Theoresia via her personal Instagram. "Like the two previous poetry books, we still do the process of reciprocating each other's poetry. I remember the poetry book, Tempat Paling Liar di Muka Bumi (The Wildest Place on Earth), Weslly and I had time to send poetry via short message (SMS). Our poetry book Cara-Cara Tidak Kreatif untuk Mencintai (Uncreative Ways to Love) we reciprocate via WhatsApp, and now our poetry book Percakapan Paling Panjang Perihal Pulang Pergi, we were corresponding our poetry via e-mail. "
The poems of Theoresia and Weslly have been successfully published in books. The two previous collaborative works, Tempat Paling Liar di Muka Bumi and Cara-Cara Tidak Kreatif untuk Mencintai were published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2016 and 2018. Following this, a single poetry book by Theoresia entitled Selamat Datang, Bulan, (Welcome, Moon) and a single poetry book by Weslly entitled Bahaya-bahaya yang Indah (Beautiful Dangers) were also published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2019. Also, there are three digital poetry books that they published themselves in 2020, namely Rumah Rindu, Mata Bunga, and DaNowa Pagi.
Percakapan Paling Panjang Perihal Pulang Pergi takes the format of a conversation between Theo and Weslly, which creates continuity from start to finish. Every now and then they take a word or phrase from the previous verse and plug it into their own rhyme so that the conversation flows smoothly and sometimes goes in another direction. This is an interesting experiment from a pair of writers who have matured, ”said Siska Yuanita, senior editor of Gramedia Pustaka Utama.
